From camping in the Uintas to hiking through Utah’s national parks to skiing on the best snow on earth, Utah’s natural beauty draws millions of people each year. Utah’s healthcare providers need to be ready to respond quickly in the event of an emergency.

Intermountain Health recognizes that its caregivers are uniquely positioned to identify opportunities to improve care as part of its mission of helping people live their healthiest lives. The Caregiver Invention Lab helps turn those insights into solutions, providing funding, product development expertise, and commercialization support.

Chris Andrew, a flight nurse with Intermountain Health Flight & Ambulance Services, saw an opportunity to improve how critical medications are carried and accessed in the field. The Caregiver Invention Lab funded and guided development with Espiritu Studio, bringing together Chris’s frontline experience and Espiritu’s design and engineering expertise. Together, they developed QuickSafe, a device designed to keep prepared syringes organized and within reach for flight paramedics, nurses, and other emergency medical professionals.
